Art Rocks! Pre-school-elementary ages need art to nurture their creativity. During these ages, children are experiencing their initial exploration of how it smells, feels, looks, and so-on. We as adults sometimes forget how it feels to try brand-new concepts. As parents and teachers we over look the value of these introductory moments. How we handle this age group and these moments of discovery, will impact their little lives in a very big way! Give your child space, materials, ideas, no restrictions... but most of all, encourage with positive feedback as they produce their arty creations! Art during the middle school ages is equally important. These children are zeroing in on the materials of choice. Be it char-coal, paint, pencil, foam...whatever, these kids are claiming a route to express themselves. During this age, children will practice and strive for mastery. As teachers and parents, we must provide those tools with space, time, and understanding. During the high school years, art offers an out let for all the emotions surrounding life changes. A sense of accomplishment as the these young adventurers explore life with more independence, is vital to nuturing self esteem. Praise and recognition builds the confidence needed to prepare for careers, formal education, and building strong relationships with others. What ever age your children have reached, do not underestimate the impact art and creativity will have in their lives.

Art is a door for the feelings in your heart. Art is a healthy release of tension and fear. Art is an expression of love. When you are happy, art is laughter. When you are saddened, art is tears. When you are lonely, art is companionship. When you are tired, art will lull.
